GES extends reopening date for single-track SHS to April 23, 2025

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a new reopening date for single-track senior high schools (SHSs).

Students were originally set to return on March 29, 2025. They would have returned after their vacation on March 4.

Due to the upcoming Eid-Ul-Fitr holidays, the reopening is now extended to April 23, 2025.

GES instructed regional directors of education to inform all SHS heads about this change. They must communicate the new date to students, parents, and guardians.

The Ministry of the Interior stated that Eid-Ul-Fitr will be on Sunday, March 30, 2025. To accommodate this, the President declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1 as public holidays.

The statement explained that these holidays are in line with the Public Holidays Act.

Initially, GES moved the reopening date to April 1 due to these holidays. However, after further discussions, they decided on April 23 for better academic planning.

Parents and students should note this new schedule and prepare accordingly.
