GES rejects CHASS’ postponement request; insists on SHS reopening date

Ghana Education Service Ghana Education Service

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that Senior High Schools (SHS) will reopen on January 3, 2025, as scheduled, despite calls from the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) for a postponement.

CHASS had warned that unresolved financial issues could disrupt the reopening process, advising against proceeding unless their concerns were addressed.

However, the GES, in a January 2 statement, assured that the 2024/25 academic calendar remains unchanged.

Primary and Junior High Schools (JHS) will reopen on January 8, 2025.

The GES noted ongoing discussions with the Ministry of Education to resolve the challenges raised by CHASS.

It urged stakeholders to adhere to the schedule and prepare for a smooth start to the academic year.
