GES reschedules reopening date for single-track Senior High Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has postponed the reopening of single-track senior high schools (SHSs) from March 29, 2025, to April 23, 2025.

The decision, outlined in a circular dated March 27, was communicated to all regional education directors to ensure parents, guardians, and students are informed.

The initial shift was prompted by the Eid-Ul-Fitr holidays on March 30 and 31, leading to an adjustment to April 1. However, further considerations, including the Easter holidays, resulted in the final extension to April 23.

GES Public Relations Officer Cassandra Twum-Ampofo explained that reopening schools just before multiple holidays would cause unnecessary travel risks for students.

She assured that arrangements are in place to compensate for lost instructional time, ensuring final-year students adequately prepare for WASSCE 2025.

The rescheduling affects only single-track schools, while double-track students will follow their original academic calendar.
