The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned heads of basic schools against imposing unauthorized registration fees on final-year students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
In a statement signed by Head of Public Relations, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, GES warned that all fees collected illegally must be refunded.
Regional and District Directors have been instructed to monitor compliance and ensure affected students get their money back.
The statement further emphasized that school heads who ignore the directive will face sanctions.
This move comes in response to complaints from parents and students about unapproved charges.
GES is urging strict adherence to official guidelines to prevent financial burdens on candidates and their families.
