GEXIM partners Saudi EXIM to facilitate trade, project financing

The Ghana Export – Import Bank (GEXIM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi EXIM Bank. This event took place on Monday in Côte d’Ivoire. The signing occurred during the 2025 African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meetings.

GEXIM's Chief Executive, Hon. Sylvester A. Mensah, and Saudi EXIM's CEO, His Excellency Saad Alkhalb, represented their banks. The MoU aims to promote exports between Ghana and Saudi Arabia.

The agreement includes sharing information and best practices. It also covers capacity building and exploring credit lines and project financing. Additionally, it addresses funding for on-lending and issuing transactional guarantees.

Mr. Mensah expressed his pleasure in signing the MoU. He emphasized its strategic importance for cooperation between both banks. The focus will be on export promotion, knowledge sharing, and project financing.

He highlighted GEXIM’s goal over the next four years: increasing food production and strengthening agro-processing. This aligns with President John Mahama's vision for a resilient economy focused on job creation.

Mr. Mensah looks forward to new opportunities for businesses in both countries. His Excellency Saad Alkhalb stressed the need to deepen relations between Saudi Arabia and Ghana. He committed to implementing the MoU for mutual benefit.

The GEXIM team included key members such as Isaac Amissah-Aidoo, Jonathan Christopher Koney, and Marcus Garvey Adampah.
