The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has called for change at the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA). He wants the GGSA to stop relying on government funding. Instead, he urges it to become commercially viable and self-sustaining.
During his first visit to the GGSA since taking office, the Minister raised concerns about its financial dependence. He noted that this is troubling given the Authority’s important role in Ghana’s natural resource development.
“There is no reason why an organization as important as GGSA should struggle for funds,” he stated. “Your services must generate revenue. Your work is essential, and I am committed to helping you change this situation.”
The Minister stressed the need for teamwork among staff and leadership. He wants everyone to align with the government's reset agenda for the GGSA.
“Everyone here must work to achieve this agenda,” he said. “If we all perform our responsibilities, we will be on the same page.”
