GH₵49 million misappropriation: Don't defend Kwabena Adu Boahene's corrupt practices-MP to NPP MPs

Vincent Ekow Assafuah is the MP for Old Tafo Constituency in the Ashanti Region. He has advised fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs not to defend Kwabena Adu Boahene. Adu Boahene is the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB). He faces accusations of misappropriating GH₵49 million in state funds.

Assafuah warned party members against shielding Adu Boahene if the allegations are true. He stated, "If this is true, I am warning party persons... please don’t go and defend it." He emphasized that they are building a nation.

The allegations were made by Dr. Dominic Ayine, the Minister for Justice and Attorney General, on March 24. Dr. Ayine claimed that Adu Boahene embezzled millions meant for a cyber defense project. The funds were allegedly diverted into real estate investments in Accra and abroad.

Adu Boahene is also accused of laundering over $2 million through these ventures. This case has generated significant public interest and calls for accountability. Assafuah shared his caution during an appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show on March 25, 2025.
