The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has donated 20 new HP laptops. The laptops are valued at GH¢139,890.00. This donation supports the digital transformation agenda of the Army Recruit Training School (ARTS).
The event took place on April 15, 2025, at ARTS headquarters in Shai Hills. Dr. Sofo Tanko Rashid Computer led the donation with his management team. This initiative aims to provide ICT tools to underserved institutions, including security agencies.
The Army Recruit Training School requested support to modernize its operations. They aim to improve administrative efficiency and enhance digital learning and communication.
Dr. Rashid emphasized GIFEC's quick response due to the Armed Forces' role in national security. He stated that supporting ARTS aligns with GIFEC’s mission for inclusive ICT access.
He also highlighted the need for collaboration between GIFEC and ARTS. Such partnerships are vital to address the digital divide, especially in areas with connectivity challenges.
Dr. Rashid noted that Shai Hills faces significant network issues affecting digital access. GIFEC is committed to working with stakeholders to improve internet connectivity there.
He assured ARTS leadership that this is just the beginning of support initiatives. In the coming months, they will explore providing desktop computers and accessories like scanners and projectors.
Lieutenant Colonel Ambitious Nazar received the laptops on behalf of ARTS. He expressed gratitude for GIFEC's timely intervention, stating it would enhance teaching and learning.
This initiative is part of GIFEC’s goal to promote digital inclusion in public institutions and underserved communities across Ghana.
Present at the ceremony were Ms. Francisca Mawufemor Adjei, Ms. Ruth Ayiintimii Azantilow, and Mr. Fredrick Kojo Aidoo from GIFEC.
