The trial of Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi will resume on June 10, 2025. He is the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF). He pleaded not guilty to charges related to a $2 million transfer.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was recently granted bail of GH¢10 million. He must provide two sureties as part of his bail conditions. He faces accusations of causing financial loss to the state and misusing public funds.
As part of his bail, he surrendered his passport and travel documents. He must also report weekly to investigators.
He is on trial with former GIIF CEO Solomon Asamoah. They are accused of transferring public funds to Africa Investor Holdings for a Sky Train project.
Prosecutors claim the transaction lacked proper authorization and due diligence. They argue it violated financial regulations and caused significant losses.
Both men deny any wrongdoing. They are expected to present their defense in June when proceedings continue.
