Dr. Nyame-Baafi is a Senior Lecturer at GIMPA. He is also a Senior Fellow at IERPP. He has called for the dismissal of Energy Minister John Jinapor. He cites poor handling of the energy sector since the new government took office.
In an interview with Asaase Radio, Dr. Nyame-Baafi stated, “The energy sector is in crisis.” He added that “the figures are clear.” He believes Jinapor must be fired if President Mahama wants to reset the government's course.
These comments come as President Mahama's administration marks 120 days in office. Dr. Nyame-Baafi argues that the government's promise to revive the energy sector has failed. Challenges remain in energy reliability, affordability, and reform delivery.
He emphasized that leadership requires tough decisions. If President Mahama wants to show he is serious about change, he should replace those leading the energy transition. This appeal directly targets one of Ghana’s most critical sectors.
Dr. Nyame-Baafi's critique adds to growing scrutiny of the government’s early performance. Citizens had high expectations for reform and relief in various sectors.
