The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Kwabena Dwumfour, has raised alarm over rising attacks on journalists under President Mahama’s administration.
Speaking at a press conference on February 18, he revealed that seven assaults on journalists had been recorded within just 50 days of Mahama’s second term, describing the situation as “unprecedented.”
Dwumfour criticized the government for failing to hold perpetrators accountable, warning that press freedom is under serious threat.
He urged law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to protect journalists and uphold media rights.
His concerns reflect growing fears about media safety and increasing pressure on the government to ensure journalists can work without fear of violence or intimidation.
