The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is urging the quick reconstitution of the National Media Commission (NMC) Board. This step is essential for better media regulation and promoting media freedom.
The GJA stated that delays in forming the NMC Board harm media regulation. These delays also affect journalism practices in the country.
Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of GJA, made this statement at a press briefing. The event took place in Accra on Wednesday, April 23.
He noted that five months have passed since the previous board's term ended. The GJA learned that some institutions have not yet named their representatives.
Dwumfour urged these institutions to act quickly and submit their representatives. He emphasized that the NMC should swear in those who are ready to serve.
