The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has requested an urgent meeting with the Minister of Health over the suspension of the Vehicle Importation Tax Waiver for public sector doctors and dentists.
In a statement on April 2, 2025, GMA President Dr. Frank Serebour and General Secretary Dr. Richard Selormey expressed concern over the delay in implementing the waiver, which was part of a Conditions of Service agreement signed on March 27, 2024.
Some affected doctors have been unable to clear their imported vehicles due to the suspension.
Despite previous engagements with authorities, no resolution has been reached.
The GMA insists on immediate intervention and plans to update its members after meeting with the minister.
