The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has released a 24-hour weather forecast. Today, expect mostly cloudy conditions and possible rainfall across the country. Thunderstorms are likely later in the day.
In southern Ghana, including coastal and forest areas, skies will be cloudy. Early morning may bring mist or fog. Some coastal and inland areas could see isolated rain showers.
As the day continues, southern regions will stay mostly cloudy with some sunshine. The northern half of Ghana is expected to be predominantly sunny during the day.
From late afternoon into evening, localized thunderstorms and rain showers may develop. This includes parts of the coastal, middle, transitional, and northern zones.
City-specific forecasts include:
- Accra, Kasoa, and Cape Coast may have morning rain. There’s a 30–40% chance of thunderstorms in the evening.
- Takoradi and Axim are likely to experience scattered thunderstorms throughout the day.
- Koforidua, Ho, and Akim Oda will start with mist or clouds. Thunderstorms are expected by evening.
- Kumasi and Sunyani should have a partly cloudy morning with a 40% chance of thunderstorms later.
- Northern cities like Yendi, Tamale, and Bolgatanga will enjoy sunny weather during the day. Thunderstorms could develop in the evening with up to a 40% probability.
GMet warns that sea conditions are rough. Mariners and coastal communities should exercise caution.
Residents should stay updated on weather alerts. This is especially important for those in areas prone to thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
