GMet forecasts hot weather with evening thunderstorms in parts of Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has released a weather forecast for April 16, 2025.

The forecast predicts a mix of partly cloudy, sunny, and stormy conditions across the country.

In the morning, most areas will be partly cloudy. Misty conditions are expected in coastal, forest, and mountainous regions early on.

By afternoon, sunny weather will dominate. This will lead to higher temperatures throughout Ghana.

Daytime highs are expected to reach 41°C in the northern region. The forest zone may see maximums of 35°C, while the transition zone could hit 36°C. Coastal areas will be cooler with a high of 33°C.

GMet warns of possible thunderstorms from late afternoon into evening. These storms may occur north of the coastline and in parts of the middle belt and northern sectors.

The public is advised to take precautions in areas at risk for thunderstorms. Staying hydrated is also important due to high temperatures.

This forecast falls under the “Be Aware” and “Be Prepared” categories. It indicates a low to moderate risk level for residents.
