The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has shared today's weather forecast.
This morning, most of the country will be partly cloudy. Coastal, forest, and mountainous areas may see patches of mist early on.
According to GMet’s 24-hour forecast starting at 6:00 a.m., northern Ghana will have sunny weather this afternoon. In contrast, southern regions will experience sunshine mixed with clouds.
By late afternoon and evening, thunderstorms or rain are expected in several areas. This includes the middle belt, transitional zones, and parts of northern Ghana.
GMet notes that a weak rainstorm over northern Benin is causing this weather change. The storm is drifting westward and bringing cloudiness and rain to northern Ghana.
Additionally, the sea state is expected to be rough today. GMet advises caution for maritime activities.
City-specific outlook:
- Accra, Kasoa, Axim: Morning clouds with sunny intervals in the afternoon. Partly cloudy by evening.
- Cape Coast and Takoradi: Possible thunderstorms (30% chance) in the morning followed by sunny intervals.
- Ho and Koforidua: Misty conditions early with possible thunderstorms later in the day.
- Kumasi and Obuasi: Partly cloudy with sunny periods; potential thunderstorms (40%) in the evening.
- Yendi, Tamale, Bolgatanga: Possible thunderstorms in the morning and evening; sunny spells during the afternoon.
- Wa and Damongo: Cloudy morning followed by sunshine; 40% chance of thunderstorms in the evening.
GMet advises everyone to stay updated on weather alerts. Those in thunderstorm-prone areas should take necessary precautions as the day progresses.
