GMet warns of continued heavy rainfall across southern Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a warning. The public should prepare for more intense rainstorms. This is especially true in southern Ghana as the rainy season continues.

Felicity Ahafianyo, head of GMet’s Central Analysis and Forecast Office, spoke about this. She noted that the seasonal forecast indicated higher intensity and frequency of rainfall.

“It has started already,” she said, referring to recent weather events along the coast.

Her comments follow severe flooding in parts of the Greater Accra Region. Areas affected include Pantang, Nsawam, Lakeside, and Kasoa.

On Friday, heavy rain also hit the Volta Region for over an hour. “This pattern will continue until the major rainy season ends,” she added during her appearance on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on May 19.
