The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has called for immediate action to curb rising indiscipline in second-cycle institutions.
The association strongly condemned recent violent incidents, including senior students attacking juniors with machetes at Accra Academy and clashes among schools such as Kinbu SHS and Accra High School.
GNAT’s General Secretary, Thomas Musah, described the situation as alarming, citing past cases of student violence, vandalism, and even assaults on teachers.
He warned that failing to address these issues could have dire consequences for society.
GNAT is urging the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, and relevant bodies to implement urgent reforms, emphasizing that schools must not become breeding grounds for criminal behavior but safe spaces for learning and discipline.
