The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has raised alarm over escalating violence in senior high schools, warning that authorities may be forced to establish military barracks on campuses if the situation worsens.
This comes after recent violent clashes where students were found wielding dangerous weapons, including cutlasses and locally made pistols.
GNAT General Secretary, Thomas Tanko Musah, attributed the rising indiscipline to a broader societal breakdown in respect and accountability.
“If students continue bringing weapons, we may need military personnel on campuses to maintain order,” he cautioned.
The incidents have reignited concerns about discipline and safety in schools, prompting calls for urgent measures to prevent further escalation of student violence.
