GNFS shuts down food joint at Osu Total Filling Station

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has ordered the closure of a mobile mini restaurant. This restaurant was using liquified petroleum gas (LPG) at the Total Filling Station on Oxford Street in Osu. The closure aims to prevent a potential fire outbreak.

This decision follows a viral video on social media. The video showed open flames dangerously close to fuel pumps. This act violates fire safety regulations and poses a serious fire hazard.

A statement from Divisional Officer Two (DO II) Desmond Ackah was released. He is the Head of Public Relations for GNFS. It noted that fuel stations are high-risk zones due to flammable substances.

Using LPG, open flames, or any spark-generating activity in these areas is prohibited. Violators can face legal consequences.

Acting Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow-Sapong has directed intensified inspections nationwide. She warned that businesses breaching fire safety protocols will face strict penalties.

The GNFS is committed to working with fuel and gas station operators. They aim for full compliance with safety standards.

The statement advised the public to prioritize safety and stay vigilant. People should report unsafe practices near fuel or gas stations immediately. Reports can be made to the nearest fire station or via GNFS hotlines: 0302772446 / 0299340383.
