The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has called for the establishment of an emergency fund to support personnel injured in the line of duty.
DO1 Alex Nartey revealed that the lack of an insurance package poses a major challenge, leaving injured officers to fend for themselves.
He stressed that despite appeals to both past and present governments, no structured financial support exists.
Nartey also urged the government to replace outdated fire tenders, noting that while new fire stations and training schools were built under the previous administration, critical firefighting logistics remain obsolete.
He emphasized that without proper funding and resources, personnel face significant risks while responding to emergencies.
