Accra Hearts of Oak struggled again in the Ghana Premier League. They lost 2-0 to Aduana Stars on Wednesday.
Sam Adams scored in the first half. Ivorian Abdel Latif Bamba added a second goal in the 87th minute. This defeat highlighted Hearts of Oak's lackluster performance.
Aduana Stars have improved under new manager Ciorba Aristica. Their recent form was evident as they attacked consistently.
In the 15th minute, Hearts keeper Benjamin Asare made a great save. He denied Sam Adams's close-range shot with an impressive stretch.
Aduana continued to press down the right side. In the 10th minute, Ransford Mensah intervened just in time to stop another attack.
Seven minutes later, Sam Adams scored with a powerful shot into the top corner. This goal energized Hearts, but their response lacked coherence and purpose.
Hearts made two substitutions at halftime. Asamoah Boateng and Ransford Mensah were replaced by Kwabena Boateng and Yahaya Draman.
However, these changes did not halt Aduana's momentum. They maintained control throughout the second half.
Five minutes after coming on, Draman made a crucial tackle against former teammate Liventius Arthur.
On the hour mark, Hearts earned a free kick when Kwabena Boateng was fouled. Unfortunately, they wasted this opportunity.
Hearts attempted to build momentum but faced repeated fouls on playmaker Hussein Mohammed.
In the 77th minute, Hussein had to leave due to injury and was replaced by Martin Karikari. His departure diminished any real threat from Hearts.
Suddenly, Kwabena Boateng found himself unmarked in the box but missed his chance to score for Hearts.
With one minute left, Liventius Arthur crossed brilliantly to Abdel Bamba. The Ivorian headed home easily for Aduana’s second goal.
This victory brings Aduana Stars' points total to 35, placing them 11th in the league standings.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have lost four of their last seven matches and only won once during that stretch. They have dropped to sixth place with 41 points.
