The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has denied claims by Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd. (SML). SML suggested its mandate now includes revenue assurance in the upstream petroleum and solid minerals sectors.
On May 14, 2025, the GRA issued a statement to the media. They called reports from various outlets, including Business and Financial Times, inaccurate.
The GRA expressed concern over these claims. They stated that SML has not expanded its oversight in these sectors.
The Authority clarified that it has not approved any such expansion. SML remains suspended from operations in these areas.
The suspension was issued in April 2024 and is still in effect. The GRA also noted that it did not instruct SML to resume operations under the 2023 contract.
Finally, the GRA reassured stakeholders and the public of its commitment. They aim to manage the country’s revenue systems with integrity and transparency.
