The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has clarified a recent issue. They did not freeze the bank accounts of Richard Nii Armah Quaye. He is the founder of Bills Micro Credit Ltd.
This statement follows reports about enforcement actions against Mr. Quaye. On March 27, 2025, the GRA issued a press release. They confirmed that a tax assessment of GH₵30 million was raised against him.
However, they stated no enforcement actions have been taken yet. “We have not commenced any enforcement action such as freezing his bank accounts,” the GRA said.
The authority urged the public to ignore false reports. They assured that they follow due process for tax assessments. Enforcement actions only happen when taxpayers refuse to cooperate after assessments.
The GRA encouraged eligible taxpayers to disclose their incomes voluntarily. This helps avoid penalties and legal consequences related to taxes.
They reaffirmed their commitment to fairness and transparency in tax administration. The GRA promised adherence to due process in all tax compliance matters.
In other news, Mr. Quaye recently celebrated his 40th birthday at Black Star Square in Accra. The event featured many local and international dignitaries and business elites.
Dubbed #RNAQ40, it showcased some of Ghana’s influential personalities like Dr Osei Kwame Despite and Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong. Their presence highlighted Mr. Quaye’s connections within the business community.
Government officials and industry leaders also attended the celebration. Notable performances included Nigeria's Davido and Ghana's Sarkodie, along with Stonebwoy’s energetic Afro-dancehall music.
