The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has refuted claims that it has frozen the bank accounts of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, founder of Bills Micro Credit Ltd.

In a press statement issued on March 27, 2025, the GRA clarified that while Quaye has been assessed for a GH₵30 million tax liability, no enforcement actions, including account freezing, have been initiated.

“The Authority has issued an assessment on him relating to his income taxes, but we have not commenced any enforcement action such as freezing his bank accounts,” the statement emphasized.

The GRA urged the public to disregard the false reports, stating that enforcement measures are only applied when a taxpayer fails to comply after assessments. The authority reiterated its commitment to due process, fairness, and transparency in tax administration.

The development follows Quaye’s recent high-profile 40th birthday celebration at the Black Star Square in Accra. The event, attended by notable business moguls Dr. Osei Kwame Despite and Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, also featured performances by top musicians, including Davido, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy.
