GRIDCo assures Obuasi of swift power restoration following substation fire

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has reassured residents of Obuasi.

They are working to restore power in the Ashanti Region.

This follows a major outage caused by a fire at a GRIDCo substation.

The fire led to an explosion of a transformer supplying electricity.

The incident happened on Wednesday, May 21.

Firefighters managed to control the blaze, but power remains disrupted.

Obuasi and nearby areas are still without electricity.

In a press release, GRIDCo stated that engineers are assessing the damage.

They aim to restore power as quickly as possible.

"Our team is checking equipment integrity before restoring supply," GRIDCo said.

They apologized for the inconvenience caused by this incident.

GRIDCo assures residents that efforts are underway to fix the issue.
