The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) is urging the government to introduce bold tax reforms in the 2025 Budget to ease the high cost of doing business.

GUTA President, Dr. Joseph Obeng, emphasized the need to eliminate excessive taxes, simplify VAT, and introduce a fixed exchange rate for import duties to enhance business stability.

The association also wants a tax amnesty program to encourage compliance and a fixed duty system for spare parts to control import costs.

Additionally, GUTA is calling for policies to stabilize the cedi, curb inflation, and ensure efficient public spending.

Traders believe these measures will boost economic confidence, making Ghana’s business environment more competitive and sustainable.
