Ga Traditional Council bans drumming, noise-making in Ga Mashie May 12-June11 - Ghanaian Times

The Ga Traditional Council (GTC) announced a ban on drumming and noisemaking. This ban will be in effect from May 12 to June 11, 2025.

The month-long ban includes several restrictions. Clapping hands and using loudspeakers outside churches and mosques are prohibited. Roadside evangelism, megaphones, tambourines, and other musical instruments cannot be used indoors or outdoors.

This ban is part of the customary rites for the Homowo Festival celebration.

Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was present at the announcement with elders.

Nii Ayikoi Otoo, president of the Ga Dangme Council, urged everyone to follow these rules. He emphasized that this will help maintain “peace, harmony and security” in the Ga Traditional Area.
