Galamsey: 21 more arrested in Samreboi Forest raid as operation enters day 4

A joint police and security operation is targeting illegal mining near Samreboi. This operation has led to the arrest of 21 more individuals. The total number of arrests now stands at 47 after four days.

The latest arrests include both local and foreign nationals. Authorities have detained 39 Ghanaians, eight Chinese nationals, and four Ghanaian women. They were caught mining illegally along the Tano River and in nearby forest reserves.

The crackdown has intensified recently. Security forces have seized 17 excavators and one bulldozer used for environmental destruction. They also confiscated several firearms and rounds of ammunition from the miners.

The first group of 26 arrested suspects has been sent to Accra for prosecution.

Security personnel remain active in the affected areas. Their goal is to remove remaining illegal miners and dismantle galamsey infrastructure.
