Galamsey Fight: We will talk less and let our action speak – Dr. Omane Boamah

Dr. Omane Boamah leads the Defence Ministry. He says the government is committed to fighting illegal mining.

He emphasized that they want to deliver results, not just talk. In a Facebook post, he compared their efforts to the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

The NPP government reduced military involvement in anti-galamsey operations. Dr. Boamah called this a serious mistake against humanity. He noted that under President John Dramani Mahama, soldiers are back to combat galamsey.

So far, they have saved seven forest reserves. "We will talk less and let action speak," he stated. They are also tracing vehicle owners involved in illegal mining.

The fight against galamsey has changed with the new government. Reports suggest that some NDC affiliates are now engaging in illegal mining. This activity is harming the country’s forests.
