Ghana could soon face a severe water crisis due to inefficiencies in water treatment, warns Dr. Clifford Braimah, Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited.
He highlighted that water loss during treatment is currently between 35% and 50%, far above the ideal 5%.
This inefficiency threatens the supply of safe drinking water and increases costs due to the need for more expensive chemicals.
Dr. Braimah urged immediate action to prevent further pollution and warned that if the situation continues, Ghana might run out of safe water.
