Prof. Eric Abavare, President of UTAG at KNUST, has sharply criticized President Akufo-Addo for his handling of illegal mining (galamsey).
Speaking on JoyNews on September 12, Abavare accused the President of inaction and called for his resignation, arguing that he has the power and resources to combat the problem but has chosen not to.
Abavare also criticized NDC's John Mahama for his stance on galamsey, questioning his suitability for presidency.
The issue has gained urgency due to recent water supply problems in Cape Coast linked to galamsey, with environmental groups and unions demanding decisive action.
