Organised Labour has denied accusations of accepting bribes from the government to cancel a planned nationwide strike against illegal mining (galamsey).
King Ali Awudu, President of the Coalition of Concern Teachers, dismissed the claims as baseless, stating that their decision was based on real progress made in negotiations. He highlighted that within a month, the government agreed to revoke the law allowing mining in forest reserves.
Awudu emphasized that Organised Labour’s efforts have achieved results, unlike other groups that had called for action since 2023 without success.
