Dr. Richmond Atuahene, a banking consultant, has criticized Finance Minister Amin Adam's assertion that Ghana’s economy is rebounding, urging officials to rely on accurate data.
Speaking at a rally in Saboba, the Finance Minister claimed Ghana is regaining macroeconomic stability and on a path to sustained growth.
However, Dr. Atuahene, on Morning Starr, described these remarks as misplaced, asserting that Ghana is effectively bankrupt with a debt burden of $55 billion, excluding liabilities like energy sector debts.
He argued that Ghana's inflation trajectory aligns with hyperinflation and criticized excessive taxation without creating an enabling economic environment.
Dr. Atuahene advised the government to acknowledge the reality of economic struggles rather than call for celebration, emphasizing the need for accurate data and accountability.
