Ghana Armed Forces denies attack on Army Chief in Bawku

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has denied claims about an attack on Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu. He is the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS). These claims arose during his recent visit to Bawku in the Upper East Region.

On Thursday, April 25, GAF released a statement. They called the viral videos "false" and urged people to disregard them.

The COAS visited Bawku on Wednesday, April 23, as part of a scheduled tour. GAF stated that the visit was peaceful and successful. No negative incidents were reported during this time.

GAF is currently investigating the origin of these misleading videos. They aim to identify and prosecute those responsible for spreading false information.

The military warned bloggers, media outlets, and content creators to verify their information before publishing. They emphasized the need for caution when reporting on GAF operations in Bawku.

GAF reminded everyone that false information could worsen security issues in Bawku. They urged all parties to work together for peace in the area. The statement concluded by calling for cooperation to restore normalcy in Bawku and its surroundings.
