The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have shown great solidarity. They donated their one-month basic salary to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, known as Mahama Cares.
This donation supports Ghanaians facing serious health issues. These include cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and chronic kidney failure.
On May 16, 2025, Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General William Agyapong led the donation. He emphasized the urgent need to support the fund.
He said, “It is heartwarming to know that people with these conditions will benefit from this fund.” He added that his military command decided to contribute their salaries for this cause.
The Mahama Cares initiative was launched by former President John Dramani Mahama. It aims to ensure all Ghanaians can access essential medical care without financial barriers.
President Mahama received the donation and expressed gratitude. He praised the Armed Forces for their generosity and compassion.
“Thank you for this initiative,” he said. “You protect our borders but also care deeply for our people.”
Mahama acknowledged their love for the country and its citizens. He thanked them on behalf of all Ghanaians for their support.
