The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has launched an investigation into an alleged assault involving three civilians and seven military personnel in Kumasi on March 28, 2025.
Among the accused are three senior officers and four soldiers, who reportedly arrested and attacked the civilians over a stolen mobile phone.
The Military High Command confirmed on April 2 that the civilians sustained injuries and assured a thorough probe.
The Military Police and Ashanti Regional Police CID are jointly handling the case, with the accused under closed arrest.
Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie urged calm, assuring that any personnel found guilty will face legal consequences.
The incident has sparked public concern over military conduct and civilian rights as many await the investigation’s outcome.
