The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced it will begin issuing Ghana Cards and conduct first-time registrations across Greater Accra starting Monday, April 7, 2025.
This move targets applicants who have waited since June 2023 for their cards, as well as unregistered Ghanaians aged 15 and above.
In a statement, the NIA emphasized that both the printing of backlog cards and new registrations are free of charge.
However, services like card replacement and record updates still come at a cost.
The Authority urged the public to report any officials who attempt to demand money for free services.
This renewed effort underscores the NIA’s commitment to ensuring every eligible citizen is covered under Ghana’s national identification system, with the Ghana Card as the central means of identification.
