The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) has announced activities to honor Pope Francis. He passed away on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025. The Vatican confirmed his death after a long illness.
Pope Francis had several health issues in recent years. He spent 38 days in the hospital from February to March 2025.
Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi signed an official statement for the GCBC. It calls on bishops, priests, and laypeople in Ghana to pray for the Pope's soul.
The statement also mentioned a National Memorial Mass will be held later. This event will honor Pope Francis’ legacy.
