Ghana Highway Authority condemns Achimota-Ofankor underpass vandalism

The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has condemned the illegal removal of reinforcements. This occurred at the Tantra Hill underpass on the N6 highway.

On May 14, 2025, the GHA issued a public announcement. They acted on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways. This followed a viral video from Buzzstopboys showing exposed steel reinforcements.

The GHA noted that an earlier assessment found localized spalling on the wall. This damage exposed rebars and led to theft by some individuals.

Despite this damage, the GHA assured the public that the underpass is safe. They plan to start repair works soon to prevent further issues.

The Authority warned that tampering with public infrastructure is a crime. This falls under the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (LI 2180). They urged people to report suspicious activity to local police or their Public Affairs Division.

“We must protect our roads together,” emphasized the statement.
