President John Dramani Mahama announced plans for the Ghana Labour Export Programme. This initiative aims to create job opportunities for Ghana's youth through international employment partnerships.
During his Thank You tour in the Ahafo Region on May 31, he spoke about this program. The government is in talks with several countries facing labor shortages. These discussions aim to allow Ghanaian professionals to work abroad on fixed-term contracts.
"We will soon launch the Ghana Labour Export Programme," President Mahama stated. Many countries need workers in various sectors, including agriculture and health. The program will target electricians, welders, nurses, chefs, and more.
The President revealed that a contract has been signed with one country. This contract allows for the export of 200 temporary workers. He emphasized that selection will be fair and inclusive.
All 16 regions of Ghana will have equal opportunity for participation. This includes residents from the host region, Ahafo. "Young qualified people will be selected fairly from all regions," he assured.
