Staff of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) were left frustrated on Tuesday morning after union leaders unexpectedly locked the offices, barring employees from entering.
The move, which caught workers off guard, followed an invitation from the local union executives to journalists for a press briefing on "happenings within the GSA."
However, in a bizarre turn of events, the union abruptly canceled the briefing, dismissed the journalists, and refused to answer further calls.
With office receptions locked and no space for clients to seek assistance, workers expressed outrage over what they described as unilateral action by the union.
“We were not informed about any strike or office closure. This is unacceptable,” one employee fumed.
Union Chairperson Comfort Hansen later told *Graphic Online* that leaders had been summoned to the Ministry of Trade and Industry and would provide updates afterward.
Meanwhile, GSA management has yet to issue a statement, as discussions reportedly continue to resolve the impasse.
