Trade between Ghana and Türkiye reached nearly $888 million in 2023. Ghana's exports totaled $614 million, with 80.2% being gold. Imports from Türkiye amounted to $274 million, mainly pasta and wheat flour.
This growing trade shows changing economic priorities and stronger ties between the two nations. Bilateral trade is expected to hit $900 million by the end of 2025. It may exceed $1 billion by 2027 as both countries seek deeper collaboration.
Ghana exports gold and cocoa beans to Türkiye. In return, Türkiye supplies machinery, transport equipment, textiles, and industrial goods. This exchange supports critical sectors in both economies.
Experts see rising trade volumes as a sign of increased business confidence. They also view it as a move toward sustainable partnerships.
Ghana aims to be a trade hub for West Africa. Türkiye offers advanced technology and strong manufacturing capacity. Its global market access makes it a valuable partner for Ghana.
Türkiye is among the world's top 20 economies, with over $225 billion in annual exports. The country has more than four million companies and a population of 85 million. Its reputation for high-quality goods attracts African nations like Ghana.
Türkiye's engagement with Africa goes beyond commerce. It includes diplomacy, education, health, and aviation initiatives. The country has embassies in 44 African nations.
Turkish Airlines connects 62 destinations across 41 countries in Africa. The Turkish Maarif Foundation operates over 200 schools on the continent. Currently, more than 30,000 African students are studying in Türkiye.
Additionally, Türkiye runs three hospitals in Africa to support development partnerships. Under its “Win-Win” strategy for Africa, Türkiye seeks long-term economic relationships through initiatives like the World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum.
The 11th WCI Forum will be held in Accra from May 28–29, 2025 at the Marriott Hotel. It will gather over 50 Turkish manufacturers and exporters with West African businesses across various sectors.
The event will include B2B meetings, product showcases, panel discussions, and conferences aimed at promoting business deals and sustainable economic partnerships.
