Ghana and Barbados are exploring a bilateral labor exchange agreement aimed at addressing employment challenges in both countries. This initiative was discussed during a recent meeting between Ghana's Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, and Barbados' Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations, Colin Jordan. Both ministers acknowledged the potential benefits of sharing labor resources to alleviate unemployment issues while fostering economic growth.
The proposed labor exchange is particularly focused on sectors where there are skill shortages in Barbados, such as hospitality and healthcare. The ministers emphasized the importance of collaboration in human resource development to create job opportunities for their citizens. By facilitating this exchange, they aim to enhance workforce skills and promote economic resilience in both nations, ultimately benefiting their respective labor markets while strengthening bilateral ties.
