Ghana committed to IMF Programme, advancing Debt Restructuring – Finance Minister

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson reaffirmed the government's commitment to the IMF programme. He aims to ensure successful debt restructuring for Ghana.

During a meeting with German Ambassador Daniel Krull, he acknowledged past missed benchmarks under the IMF programme. However, he assured that his administration is addressing these issues.

Dr. Forson stated, “We have taken concrete steps to correct missed benchmarks.” He believes results will soon be evident.

Regarding debt restructuring, he emphasized significant progress. The focus is now on finalizing bilateral agreements with external creditors.

He requested Germany's support to expedite this process. Securing these agreements is crucial for Ghana’s economic recovery.

Ambassador Krull praised the Ghanaian government’s efforts and found the discussion insightful. He expressed Germany's readiness to sign necessary agreements for Ghana's financial stability.

Ghana’s collaboration with the IMF aims to restore macroeconomic stability and promote sustainable growth. The government remains optimistic about ongoing reforms and international support for a stronger economy.
