Ghana has received praise for its strong childhood immunisation programme. This programme has greatly improved the country’s infant survival rates.
Over 90 percent of children receive individual vaccines. More than 70 percent of children get all basic immunisations by age two. Ghana is seen as a leader in immunisation both regionally and globally.
Dr. Sania Nishtar, CEO of GAVI, shared this commendation at a news conference in Accra yesterday. Her visit to Ghana lasts five days.
The purpose of her visit is to strengthen the partnership between Ghana and GAVI. GAVI is a global alliance focused on vaccine equity and access in low- and middle-income countries.
