Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a Senior Presidential Aide, spoke about Ghana's national airline. She believes its revival is crucial for the country's economy and strategy.
After a 10-member task force was formed, she said, “Ghana deserves an airline that reflects our ambition.”
Under President Mahama’s leadership, the idea of a national airline has gained traction. The focus is on connectivity, job creation, technology transfer, and economic diversification.
Ms. Bawah Mogtari noted that lacking a reliable national carrier limits Ghana’s aviation potential. “Now is the time to change that,” she stated.
She stressed that good governance and professional management are vital for success.
“A well-governed national airline will symbolize pride and resilience,” she added.
However, it must prioritize efficiency, innovation, and high service standards. The proposed model aims to be commercially viable with strategic partnerships.
Ms. Bawah Mogtari also mentioned broader benefits like tourism and trade growth.
“Direct flights from Accra to major global destinations will enhance business travel,” she explained.
The positive effects on hospitality, logistics, and aviation maintenance will be significant. Ghana's young population will benefit from new jobs and training opportunities.
In conclusion, she reaffirmed the Mahama administration's commitment to launching the airline.
“This is a chance to write a new chapter in Ghana’s aviation history,” Ms. Bawah Mogtari said. “We aim for discipline, vision, and political will.”
She emphasized that this initiative represents not just national pride but also a sustainable future for Ghana’s economy.
