Ghana gas gives TTU disabled students modern reading room

The Ghana National Gas Company has partnered with Takoradi Technical University. This collaboration aims to support students with disabilities. They have handed over a Reading Room and essential resources for these students.

The Reading Room is equipped with special technology. It is located in the main library of the university. This initiative helps create an inclusive academic environment for all students.

Along with the Reading Room, assistive tools were provided. These include voice recorders and learning materials to enhance education.

At the event, Prof. Victor Kweku Bondzie Micah spoke on behalf of TTU. He thanked Ghana Gas for their ongoing support for students with disabilities. He expressed hope for more contributions in the future.

Isaac Ansah, the Disability Liaison Officer at Ghana Gas, also spoke. He emphasized their commitment to inclusive education for special needs students. He highlighted that empowerment goes beyond resources; it includes self-determination.

Ansah encouraged students to take advantage of these opportunities. He urged them to use the resources wisely to achieve greatness.

Olivia Agyemang, TTU’s Scholarships Coordinator, detailed the support received from Ghana Gas. She mentioned modern furnishings in the Reading Room and voice recorders for lectures. Printers and other supplies will help realize TTU's vision of equal opportunities.

Agyemang also announced two upcoming training programs: one for staff and another for students on using AI in studies. Additionally, Ghana Gas will provide ten computers for the Reading Room.

Papa Kwamena Fynn, Acting Librarian of TTU, expressed gratitude to Ghana Gas. He requested assistance in redesigning library spaces for group studies.

Miss Agnes Obeng, a student with a disability, was a notable beneficiary of this support. She received a modern wheelchair and school supplies along with full tuition coverage.

The event concluded with a Career Fair where students learned about time management skills.
