Ghana holds Memorial Mass for late Pope Francis at Holy Spirit Cathedral

A government delegation gathered at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa led the group.

They were joined by religious leaders from various Christian denominations.

A representative of the National Chief Imam was also present.

This event took place on Friday, April 25, to honor Pope Francis.

Pope Francis served as Bishop of Rome and head of the Catholic Church.

He became pope in 2013 after Benedict XVI resigned.

The Vatican announced his death on April 21.

Cardinal Kevin Farrell confirmed his passing in a statement.

He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of "our Holy Father Francis."

Ghanaians joined the world in mourning this significant loss.

They shared heartfelt prayers, hymns, and tributes during the mass.

Pope Francis's burial is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at the Vatican.
