Ghana is bleeding from corruption – Nuong Faalong

Ghanaian entrepreneur, journalist, and activist Nuong Faalong has raised concerns about corruption in Ghana. She believes past government actions have caused significant financial losses.

“Ghana has lost money; true, Ghana is bleeding,” she said. “The corruption in the previous administration was obscene. It is being revealed over time,” she added during an interview on GHOne TV.

Faalong stated that ongoing audits will expose major financial mismanagement. “You cannot expect audits to happen without finding more crimes,” she noted. She insisted that the government must address these past issues.

“You cannot just tell the government to ignore these crimes and move on,” she argued. “First, you stop the bleeding, but you also find out what caused it.”

She acknowledged that allegations of corruption have not been proven in court yet. However, she maintained that evidence exists. “You cannot say the level of corruption was obscene without proof in court,” she emphasized.

Faalong dismissed claims that the public should wait for legal action before being informed. “The public requires information, and we are going to court,” she asserted.

Referring to past high-profile trials, she criticized those opposing public disclosure. “When Ato Forson was tried, it was all over the media,” she recalled. “These same people now say not to inform the public? Really?”

Faalong stressed that transparency is crucial in governance. She insisted those who claim innocence should have nothing to fear. “If you are not guilty, the court will find out soon,” she stated.

She concluded by praising the current Attorney General for his professionalism and accountability. “Thankfully, we have an Attorney General who is learned and professional,” she said. "He follows the facts without creating trouble for anyone."
